Future Prospects
Our department aims to cultivate talents with analytical skills in mathematics, statistics, programming and economics. What distinguishes us from other departments of finance is that we provide training with emphasis on the areas mentioned above to facilitate their access to their preferred careers. Through our program, students can expect to obtain a profound theoretical basis of finance and economics as well as knowledge in data application. For students who wish to enter the workforce after graduation, our curriculum will give them a great advantage over other graduates. If they wish to continue their education, their knowledge in finance and mathematics will also assist them in developing further expertise in a concentration area. Whether in industry or academia, our graduates may be pleased to find themselves well-prepared for the path toward accomplishing their dreams.
We strive to not only educate visionary business leaders but nurture world-class financial masters in Taiwan. George C. Tiao, the professor at the University of Chicago and the academician of Academia Sinica, pointed out that modern study in finance and economics has depended heavily upon quantitative and mathematical analysis. Without a good grasp of knowledge in these fields, it would be difficult for scholars to challenge their boundaries. He then expressed his confidence in graduates of the Department of Quantitative Finance of NTHU, indicating that their requisite skills and a strong grounding in both theoretical and applied aspects of finance are very well-accepted by prestigious universities in Europe and the U.S., which would be conducive to their pursuit of further scholastic excellence.
