Established in 1997 as the Quantitative Finance section in the Department of Economics, we became the Department of Quantitative Finance in 2000 and Master of Quantitative Finance in 2007. The MFB Program was launched in 2016, PhD  was launched in 2018.

National Tsing Hua University is known for its science-related programs, but it wasn’t until recent years that the College of Technology Management, the Department of Quantitative Finance, as well as the Graduate Program of Quantitative Finance, was founded. Despite their relatively short history, they have been highly regarded for the study of Finance and Financial Engineering are one of the fastest-growing industries, with severe talent shortage and rising demand for professionals.
Our department has managed to utilize our constrained resources and has made efforts to develop into a leading repository of Quantitative Finance study in Taiwan. Today, our Department has 17 full-time professors (8 Professors, 8 Associate Professors and 1 Assistant Professor) and 9 adjunct professors (3 Professors , 1 Associate Professor and 6 Assistant Professors). Our Financial Engineering Lab, equipped with databases such as Bloomberg, serves as the focal point for our research and leverages our existing strengths in the study of Quantitative Finance.

The Department of Quantitative Finance is the first across the nation to enroll students of Group II (science-based studies) of the College Entrance Examination. Most students in the undergraduate program have a solid mathematical background, and in the graduate program, a lot of students were from science-related majors such as Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, which leverages diversity in the department. We endeavor to offer a coherent curriculum to give students an in-depth mastery of the academic disciplines of Finance. We also offer specialized courses on applied functional areas necessary to every practitioners’ success, so as to meet the challenges of financial technology innovation and the rise in demand for highly trained executives and entrepreneurs who have a good grasp of knowledge in finance, mathematics, programming and the application domains.
